Main Water Line Replacement
The main line brings water from the meter at the street into your house. In many Valley homes it's original galvanized pipe, and when it fails you get low pressure everywhere, a wet spot in the yard, or a water bill that suddenly jumps.

Signs your main line needs attention
- Low water pressure in the whole house
- A wet or soggy area between the street and the house
- A water bill that's higher than it should be
- Your meter moves when all the water is off
- Old galvanized pipe at the house shutoff valve
How we replace it
We locate the existing line, then run a new one from the meter to the house, usually in copper or approved plastic pipe depending on the job. We install a new shutoff valve at the house and, where it makes sense, a pressure regulator to protect your plumbing.
We keep you informed about when the water will be off, and we restore the area when we're done.
Permits
Main line replacement needs a permit. We pull it and schedule the inspection.
Common questions
Is the line from the street mine or the city's?
In most cases the line from the meter to the house is the owner's responsibility. The meter and everything on the street side belong to the water company.
Can a leak be repaired instead?
Sometimes. If the rest of the line is old galvanized pipe, replacing it usually makes more sense than patching it.
Will my pressure get better?
If the old line was the restriction, yes. We'll check your pressure before and after.
